Our Story
Journey to Joy was not born in a boardroom. It was born in a moment of unbearable grief — and a prayer that turned into a promise, and a promise that became a mission.
How We Began
On March 1, 2003 — just seven months into her licensed ministry — Dr. Kellye A. Jones buried her nine-year-old daughter, Karlene. In the depths of that loss, she made a prayer that would define her calling for the next two decades: she asked God to never let her forget her pain, so that she could minister more effectively to others going through the same.
That prayer became a promise. That promise became Journey to Joy.
For over 20 years, Dr. Jones walked alongside grieving individuals informally — as a Pastor, a Teacher, a friend, and a fellow survivor. What she witnessed broke her heart repeatedly: people drowning in grief with no roadmap out, no structured support, and no one telling them that joy — real, lasting joy — was still possible. The church showed up at funerals. Friends brought food. But after the casseroles were gone, the grieving person was left alone with their pain.
In February 2026, Dr. Jones formalized that calling into Journey to Joy: Victory Over Grief, LLC. The LLC is new. The mission is not.

"Grief has an expiration date."
Victory is possible. Joy is coming.
What We Stand For
Every aspect of Journey to Joy is rooted in the belief that God's plan for every life includes hope, healing, and purpose — even after devastating loss.
We refuse to leave people in their grief. We walk them through it — equipping them with tools for lasting transformation, not just a hand to hold while they stay in the pain.
Our founder has lived what she teaches. Journey to Joy is built on testimony, not theory. That is the difference between a program and a calling.
Grief does not discriminate. Neither does Journey to Joy. Payment plans, tiered pricing, and facilitator partnerships ensure the program reaches those who need it most.
Our Foundation
John 10:10 is not just a scripture — it is the theological backbone of everything Journey to Joy does. The thief comes to steal your joy, kill your purpose, and destroy your future. Grief is one of his most effective weapons. But Jesus came that you might have life — and have it abundantly. That promise does not expire with loss. Death does not dictate the abundance of your life. The abundant life Jesus promised is available to you right now, on the other side of grief — not in spite of your loss, but through it.
Journey to Joy exists to show grieving people exactly where the deception is — and then walk them all the way out of it. We are not here to make grief comfortable. We are here to make it conquerable.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
John 10:10
"To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."
Isaiah 61:3
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Romans 12:2
The enemy has held you in grief long enough. Journey to Joy gives you the roadmap, the tools, and the community to walk all the way out of it — into the abundant life God promised you in John 10:10. That life is not a future reward. It is your present inheritance. And it begins the moment you decide that grief no longer has the final word.
